**An Assistant GIS Planner for 2025**

**Your Workplace Location**:Remote from home office, _**working out of Port Alberni, Campbell River, Courtenay or Comox**_for in-person meetings and team/client discussions
**Hours**:Targeted Full Time / May be sections of Part Timedepending on current projects and client needs
**Wages**: Competitive; 22 - 34 $/Hr - Depending on Experience **Benefits**: Dental and Medical
**Responsibilities**:
- Remote GIS planner supporting GIS Lead balancing priorities with multiple clients and various GIS and Forestry Planning Deliverables
- Manage GIS data, perform GIS mapping and analysis, complete road designs, appraisal summaries, develop forest activity instructions; harvest, road construction, thinning
- Organize, validate, and standardize data for use in various forest management projects
- Produce detailed, accurate maps for forestry planning and operations
- Analyze spatial data to support forest resource planning and management
- Help to create business initiatives and development in GIS department
**Requirements**:
- _Post-secondary education or Certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science, Forestry, Geography, or related preferred _
- _1 year of Forestry-related experience preferred _
- Experience working with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo, ERDAS) in a professional or academic setting.
- Experience working with forest resource data (e.g., forest inventories, vegetation types, timber management) is a strong asset.
- Ability to conduct spatial data analysis and generate reports, visualizations, and presentations from GIS outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills within a team environment for creating clear reports, data presentations, and documentation
- Strong organizational skills to keep track of data, equipment, and project timelines.
- _Post-secondary education in natural resources, forestry or a related field is an asset_
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal, Internship / Co-op
Pay: $22.00-$34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
