**Job Summary**
We are looking for a dedicated individual who would like to work within a supportive environment for our Before and After School Care Program located in Niagara Falls. This is a Supervisor position who oversees and monitors the program and staff who care for kindergarten - school
- aged children within an elementary school setting.
Positions Available: 1
**Duties**
- Meet with all parents enrolling child(ren) in child care
- Work directly with parents whenever necessary to provide support and to re-direct to the appropriate support person or agency
- Assist in planning and attending all parent meetings and functions
- Facilitate effective participation of the parents, in both the child care and parenting programs (Resource Consultant/Family Support Promoter)
- Record parent’s attendance, monitoring days absent
- Ensure that children are stimulated to maximize healthy development
- Ensure that medication is administered to the children as set out in the CCEYA
- Provide a safe nurturing environment
- Monitor development milestones
- Responsible for the supervision of all staff
- Responsible for promoting a positive team (approach) work environment
- Support staff one-on-one as issues and needs arise
- Complete goals and performance reviews with each staff member, meeting twice yearly to discuss
- Conduct orientation with all new staff and supply staff
- Assist in the smooth transition of students and volunteers
- Ensure that staff plan and implement an age-appropriate educational developmental program for each group
- Work in coordination with the Resource Consultant, Family Support Promoter, and both the District School Board of Niagara and the Niagara Catholic School Board teachers
- Facilitate staff meetings
- Designate one staff member to be in charge in the event of his/her absence
- Ensure staff are kept up to date with Best Practices Policies and Procedures
- Ensure staff sign off yearly on policies
- Observe staff in the playroom for monitoring of all policies.
- Scheduling of staff
- Ensure staff medical requirements are up to date
- Ensure accident reports are completed and a copy if given to the parent
- Work as a team member, assisting in the playrooms whenever necessary
- Keeping attendance of Strive Niagara staff
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working the field (in a child care centre)
- Supervisory or Assistant Supervisory experience an asset
- Before & After Care experience an asset
- Experience with parent involvement programs and Board of Directors
- Good interpersonal skills
- Current CPR/First Aid certification
- Current Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and up-to-date immunizations required
- Knowledge of the Childcare and Early Years Act
- Level I and II QCCN Training
- Registered member of the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Works as a team to establish and maintain a safe warm and caring environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Able to plan and implement programs that are stimulating and developmentally appropriate for kindergarten and school age children
- Ability to follow the Ministry of Education’s pedagogical approach to “How does learning Happen”
