The Shared Services team is looking for an energetic and motivated individual to safely and efficiently maintain the Public Works Yard to support all work groups based out of this location. This is a temporary, full-time position.

The Works Yard Maintenance Worker will support shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, tracking, loading and unloading a wide variety of construction and maintenance materials and will maintain records of same. It will also be responsible for performing construction and maintenance tasks, such as vegetation control and watershed maintenance, throughout the Works Yard campus. This position also operates (and performs light servicing of) a forklift and front-end loader and similar equipment. Good organization, housekeeping, coordinating and communicating with other departments is required, as is heavy manual work inside and outside in all types of weather conditions.

Basic Qualifications:

- Completion of Grade 12; courses or training in WHMIS, Spill Response, Snow and Ice Removal, Traffic Control, Stores Inventory systems, and Shipping / Receiving processes would be an asset; Plus, a minimum of two years of related experience including experience with warehousing (shipping/ receiving) as well as equipment operation and support
- Good knowledge of a wide variety of water, sewer, construction and other materials, tools, and municipal equipment, as well as the ability to operate a forklift (certification in Forklift Operation is required) and front-end loader to move and unload heavy materials
- Comfort with physical tasks, sorting, lifting, carrying, piling, including outdoors in all weather conditions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and good judgement and initiative in performing the tasks of the position
- Good knowledge of record keeping, warehouse and materials inventory controls, procedures, and practices, as well as knowledge of the proper methods used in loading, unloading, transporting and securing / storing a variety of materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement
