The Director of Services is a full-time permanent management position responsible for ensuring the agency delivers comprehensive and effective services to First Nation children, families, and communities. This role includes supervising Resource Managers and specialist staff, directing professional consultants, and ensuring cultural competence. The Director of Services reports directly to the Executive Director and is a key member of the Senior Management Team.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Master's degree in Social Work or equivalent with at least five years of relevant experience, including management and administrative roles. Equivalent combinations of skills, education, and experience may be considered.
- In-depth knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and regulations, particularly regarding Customary Care.
- Proven ability to engage with First Nation issues and demonstrate cultural competence.
- Familiarity with the agency's structure and operations, and knowledge of regional services.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within agency policies and values.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed.
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence, willingness to travel, and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check and Driver’s Abstract.
- Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to speak Ojibway as an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure services align with relevant legislation (e.g., Bill C-92, CYFSA, Grand Council Treaty 3 Child Care Law) and update organizational policies as needed.
- Conduct audits and reviews of service delivery processes, maintain a compliance framework, and provide legal guidance to senior management.
- Communicate the status of children in the Agency's care to respective First Nations communities.
- Supervise Resource Managers and specialist staff, participate in case conferences, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives, monitor performance indicators, and gather client feedback.
- Develop, review, and update policies and procedures, ensuring staff training and consistent implementation.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with First Nation Chiefs, Councils, and community members, advocating for the needs and rights of First Nation children and families.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks to service delivery, develop emergency response plans, and manage the budget for compliance and quality assurance activities.
- Assist in developing and maintaining position descriptions and salary schedules, consult with First Nation Chiefs and Councils, and conduct research on community needs.
- Advocate for government support for culturally appropriate child welfare services and participate in special projects and the development of the AAFS annual Service Plan.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:**The Director of Services will primarily operate from Anishinaabe Abinoojii Family Services offices, with occasional travel to First Nation communities and external events. This role requires flexibility in working hours to support community engagements, compliance activities, and potential emergencies. The incumbent must handle political, mental, and social stressors while maintaining compliance and quality assurance standards. Effective communication with various Board members, including First Nation communities, government representatives, and agency staff, is essential to uphold service integrity and advocate for the needs of First Nation children and families.

**Salary: $115,334.65- $141,450**
