Come join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. The Regional Trust Officer's primary responsibility is to lead the client relationship and administration activities for estate and trust settlement.

**How You Will Contribute**:
Reporting to the Manager, Regional Trust Officers are accountable for building trusted relationships with clients to facilitate the administration of activities associated with Power of Attorney, estate, and trust settlement. You will proactively manage relationships with family members and necessary partners during the administration, ensuring transparency and comprehension of required activities. You will also network and promote MDPT services to MD Management and beneficiaries to identify new business opportunities for MD.

**Relative to Estate Administration you will**:
Proactively manage relationships from start to end.
Review initial estate documentation and related forms ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency.
Arrange to meet with beneficiaries/co-executors for initial client meeting to obtain key documentation required to commence with estate settlement. This also includes following up with clients on obtaining documentation, releases, approvals to ensure administration is on plan.
Discovery - safeguard and appraise real estate, household items and personal effects
Liaises and consults With Senior Trust Officer (STO — Home Office)) during the estate and trust administration with assistance and support of Regional Administrators, Tax Officers and Estate & Trust Advisors.
Follows relevant provincial legislation and MD policy during estate settlement process.
Identifies matters requiring the exercise of executor/trustee discretion and participates in the discretionary decision process by gathering relevant client information, making recommendations to Discretionary Committee, as required.
Ability to travel as required within assigned territory.
Participate in in-house seminars
Review and approve invoices and funding requests from beneficiaries
Maintain appropriate client records on information systems
This role requires the administration of trusts and Powers of Attorney accounts in all Canadian provinces, in the event of volumes and vacancies in other provinces
Contributes their expertise to the planning, execution and oversight of projects and initiatives

Related to Testamentary Trusts and Powers of Attorney you will:
Review trust documentation and related forms, ensuring thoroughness, accuracy, and consistency prior to forwarding to Central Administration (Home Office).
Proactively manage relationships with clients, conducting periodic file reviews to include investment model and needs of the clients, managing appropriate client records and notes, and ensuring MD Private Trust client service commitments are met or exceeded.
Review and approve invoices and non-discretionary funding requests from beneficiaries, prepare documentation, and participates in discretionary decisions.
Communicate regularly with MDPT team members, to ensure the efficient and timely flow of information to all interested parties, conveying technical material in a manner that is tailored to the audience's level of interest and understanding.

**Education & Experience**:
University Degree, college diploma in business, commerce or financial planning or equivalent experience.
Accreditation of TEP via STEP or MTl from CSI Global Education Inc, or equivalent or working towards accreditation
Knowledge of relevant legislation, taxes and government filing requirements regarding estates and trusts
Five to ten years' experience in estate and trust administration.
