**DAYCARE KITCHEN ASSISTANT**
SCHWARTZ/REISMAN CENTRE DAYCARE AND PRESCHOOL

Situated in Vaughan on the Vaughan Jewish Community Campus (Bathurst/Rutherford area), the Schwartz/Reisman Centre (SRC) Daycare and Preschool is a vibrant, welcoming and state-of-the-art facility dedicated to fulfilling the children's educational, social, physical, emotional, safety, cultural and nutritional needs. We are looking to add an efficient andexperienced **Kitchen Assistant** to our team.

**Must be able to work 40 hours, Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.**

Hourly Rate: August 2024: $16.60 base rate plus $4.40 per hour (GOG funding agreed for 2024*).

Total Hourly Rate August 2024: $21 per hour ($43.680 annual)

Please note: Hourly rate will increase Oct 1, 2024 to $17.20 with min wage increase

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE**:

- Ability to work as a team with the kitchen staff, teachers and management to ensure open communication and smooth execution of tasks.
- Assists in the preparation of meals and snacks as directed by the Cook.
- Ensures there is no cross contamination of allergens when preparing special meals.
- Ensure highest standard of kosher protocols are maintained.
- Distributes meals and snacks prepared to the classrooms in accordance with menu and meal plan, considering children’s specific food allergies and special orders and following protocols.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area following sanitization standards and health and safety protocols.
- Performs other kitchen related duties as required.

**KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE**:

- Grade 12 or higher.
- Experience in food handling and preparation in an industrial kitchen.
- Knowledge of kashrut and related food symbols and food preparation requirements.
- Experience maintaining healthy and safe work practices and dealing with food allergy avoidance.
- Standard First Aid CPR-C, TB Clearance, Police Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
- Strong communication and English language skills - reading, writing and oral.
- Knowledge of Jewish culture, traditions, Israel and community and/or willingness to learn.

**APPLICATION PROCESS**:
Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
