**File #**: 2025-O-019 **Position**: Operator Class 2 **Classification**: Full-Time and Temporary OPSEU Bargaining Unit **Weekly Hours**: 40 hours per week **Number of Vacancies**: 2 (1 full-time and 1 temporary full-time until April 2026) **Department**:Public Works **Wage Information**: An hourly rate of pay of $27.88 (starting) - $29.00 (after 3 months) - $30.16 (after 12 months) **Closing Date**:October 27, 2025 Reporting to the Public Works Foreperson or designate, the Operator Class 2 is responsible for performing departmental operations including, but not limited to, road and roadside maintenance and construction, as well as infrastructure repairs. Other responsibilities include winter road patrol, winter sand/salt, snow plow and snow removal functions; operating various equipment including, but not limited to, single and tandem axle plow trucks with associated winter maintenance equipment such as pre-wet pumps, sander, tanker, and dump bodies, snow plow blade and wing attachments; front-end loaders, sidewalk plows, limb chipper, chainsaws, weed trimmers and quick-cut saws. **Position Responsibilities**: - Perform Public Works operations for year-round road maintenance, construction and infrastructure repairs including but not limited to: winter patrol, sanding, salting and snow plowing, traffic control; maintenance of parks’ facilities, docks and wharfs; repair of pot holes, road and entrance culverts; hard top and loose top surface patching and maintenance; sign repairs and replacement; debris and beaver dam removal; and performing manual labour and minor mechanical maintenance, as necessary. - Perform tree removal, tree limbing, roadside brushing and roadside vegetation removal, as required. - Monitor road conditions and conduct the call out for roadway maintenance when required for snowplows, sanders and hired contractors. - Perform various operations related to parks, trails, municipal properties and facilities. - Maintain equipment by performing greasing, cleaning, minor repairs and service. - Lead a crew of members in safe working operations as directed by the Public Works Foreperson or designate. **Qualifications and Experience**: - Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of two years’ experience in winter sand/salt, snowplow, snow removal and road and roadside maintenance operations. Construction and infrastructure repairs experience is an asset. - Good working knowledge of the Ontario Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, MTO Traffic Control (Book 7) and WHMIS 2015. - Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment and to exhibit courtesy, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public, department officials and other members of staff. Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements at all times. - Demonstrated experience operating propane torch kits. - Adequate written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills. - Availability to work on a 24-hour call-out basis, shifts including evening and weekends, stand-by and overtime. - Ability to provide an acceptable current criminal record check. - A valid Class “D” Ontario Driver’s License with a “Z” air brake endorsement in good standing with a current and acceptable Driver’s Abstract. - The Town of Bracebridge is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to meeting its obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
