As the Mechanical Design Technical Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in providing technical guidance and support to the Mechanical Design department, ensuring the highest level of quality on all technical outputs for both internal and external customers. This position is a direct role, with time charged to projects unless supporting the Applications and Sales team.

**What You'll Be Doing**:
**Mechanical Engineering Support**:

- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and supervision to the mechanical design team members.
- Assess customer specifications and processes to develop comprehensive conceptual designs for proposed systems, including supporting design calculations, schematics, 3rd party equipment recommendations, and incorporation of newly available technology/processes.
- Foster creativity and resourcefulness in addressing any technical issues or concerns that may arise during projects, both with external and internal customers.
- Assist the Applications Engineering department in concept development and risk identification, Identify quote deficiencies, risks, and scope changes, and work with internal partners to develop solutions and mitigate risk.
- Execute proof of concept efforts for high-risk system elements to validate design assumptions.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive work style within the project team, conducting design reviews, I/O and functional reviews, safety risk assessments, certification support, and design evaluations/modifications as necessary
- Review and improve engineering designs prepared by the design team, ensuring safety, efficiency, effectiveness, and manufacturability
- Participate in customer interactions to support the Sales team during the proposal phase.
- Provide technical assistance to the shop floor assembly team during the integration phase and resolve any issues for system completion.
- Develop strong customer relationships, seeking additional work and exploring new potential opportunities.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation (e.g., OSHA, CE, or customer-specific).
- Approve timesheets and vacation requests in the absence of the Director of Engineering.
- Provide input on employee performance evaluations and conduct evaluations in the absence of the Director of Engineering.

**Key Requirements**:

- A Degree/Diploma in Systems Design, Engineering Physics, Engineering Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in industrial automation
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to address both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in mentoring employees, including developing employees' skills, and resolving technical issues.
- Proficiency in Solidworks, PDM, AutoCAD
- Strong written and verbal skills in the English language.
