A youth care worker is needed to join a team implementing an in-home intervention program for a child affected with Autism. Days available: Weekends, afternoon shifts, occasional night shifts and occasional weekdays.

The person we are looking for should be very patient, physically strong and fit and be able to follow the direction given by the Program Manager and other consultants - BC, Speech Therapist and Occupational Therapist, preferable someone with a post secondary education in a child related field. The child that you will be working with is a pleasant 17 year old boy, is semi-verbal and has the ability to learn. There are times when this boy has challenging behaviours with complex needs and therefore it is advantageous for the incumbent to be able to handle such situations and think on their feet, to redirect the child, and to follow the behaviour plans.

CPI or Mandt certification is preferable as well as a clean drivers abstract, first aid certification and training in autism. A criminal record check will also be needed.

COVID-19 considerations:
This is an essential service. We encourage staff to practice safe hygiene - washing of hands when they start their shift and regularly throughout the day as well as follow the guidelines as provided by BC's health ministry.

**Salary**: $26.74 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
