Brazeau County is looking for a seasonal **Truck Driver** to join our Public Works Maintenance team from April to October. During the summer season this position offers a great work life balance from Monday to Friday with occasional overtime work. This position provides equipment support to our maintenance team during our infrastructure maintenance and construction season. You will receive job and safety training and provided personal protective equipment.

The operator’s primary responsibility will be to operate a tandem water/gravel/sanding truck for the Public Works Maintenance department. The operator may be required to carry out other related duties in other areas.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operates heavy equipment such as a tandem water/gravel/sanding trucks while performing various road maintenance and construction functions.
- Services and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Logs hours and complies with the _Traffic Safety Act._
- Performs various labourer duties as required.
- Adheres to guidelines as set out in Brazeau County’s policies and administrative directives, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Accountable for working in compliance with the _Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act,_ regulations and codes, and participates in the Health and Safety Program.
- Overtime and weekend work will be required as necessary by operational needs.
- Shift work may be implemented as required, this may include emergency response call outs.
- To undertake any other reasonable duty, commensurate with the classification and responsibility of the position, across the department in order to meet service priorities and business continuity requirements.
- May be required in the event of a municipal emergency to support the emergency operations centre and incident action/recovery plan.

**Competency Areas**:**Education/Training**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

**Licenses/Certifications/Designation**:

- A valid Class 1 with Air Endorsement Driver’s License is required.
- Satisfactory Five-Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract is required.

**Experiences/Knowledge/Skills**:

- Minimum three years’ tandem truck experience is required.
- Ability to operate other equipment including loaders is considered an asset.
- A strong service focus with good verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively.
- Ability to carry out physical labor.
- Basic computer skills are required.

**Physical Requirements**:

- This role requires sitting for extended periods while driving as well as regular, frequent and sustained peaks of concentration throughout the day. Labourer activities require considerable physical effort such as moving, standing, lifting, or pulling awkward objects.

**Shift and Rate of Pay**
- $32.90- $38.24 per hour (union Grid 7A - 7D )
- Designated as Seasonal (seasonal work approximately from April to October)
- Hours of Work per Collective Agreement; Monday to Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm
- The probationary period applies
- Area of work encompasses the Brazeau County area
- Eligible for health and dental benefits after three months
