**Position Purpose**:
Responsible for assessing and implementing appropriate academic accommodations with respect and reliability, while adhering to the policies, procedures and by-laws of the University of Ottawa, as well as the laws in Human rights and academic integrity.
**Specific Accountabilities**:
- Adhere strictly to and comply with administrative policies, procedures and practices related to the established client service delivery and client intervention while providing excellent customer service.
- Perform a functional assessment of the student based on their medical documentation to establish and implement academic accommodations.
- Develop and propose an individualized accommodation plan that summarizes the operation and the learning profile of students while orienting the report on implications educational and concrete courses of intervention that can incorporate strategies adapted to the medical condition while considering the requirements of the university curriculum of the student.
- As a stakeholder in the academic accommodation process, encourage and assist students in learning communication strategies with their professors and faculties about their academic adaptation needs. Promote assertiveness among students and inspire them to become strong and accomplished learners.
- Recommend various strategies to promote the development of a methodology effective or compensatory in the learning process (cognitive development strategies) knowledge and analysis; procedural strategies; Strategies for memorization, management of time, problem solving, reading, and writing; affective strategies [commitment in studies, motivation, stress management], metacognitive strategies, use of learning technologies, communication strategies, etc.).
- Inform students about the financial resources available in relation to their situations of disability according to the qualification criteria prescribed by each of these sources.
- Perform record keeping through evolving notes recorded in the data during individualized meetings, and, always, ensure the confidentiality of records according to applicable laws and established procedures.
- Work with teachers to ensure school accommodations are implemented appropriate for students while respecting academic integrity as well as relevant laws human rights.
- Develop content and provide training on learning strategies to students.
- Participate in awareness-raising activities regarding the needs of the clientele met at the Access service to facilitate their transition and integration into university studies.
- Participate in various SASS and Access Service committees for the purpose of sharing information useful for improving university policies, processes and procedures related to School accommodations.
- Collaborate with the other members of the multidisciplinary team in the coordination of interventions as required.
**Knowledge, Experience and Skills**:
Essential Qualifications:
- Have a master's degree in education or a related field (examples, cognitive psychology, educational psychology, multidisciplinary disability studies), or equivalent.
- Possess a very good, specialized knowledge exercised with students with disabilities with special educational needs in a post-secondary environment.
- Training and experience of at least two years in learning and cognitive intervention, and metacognitive.
