The City of White Rock is a unique, ocean-side community of 22,000 citizens located half an hour south of Vancouver on the shore of Semiahmoo Bay and is known for its sunny weather, expansive beach, historic pier, delightful restaurants, and sense of community.

**Overview**
The City of White Rock is seeking a dynamic and experienced Media Relations Coordinator for a 12-month contract to support the City's strategic communications and media engagement efforts. This role plays a key part in managing the City’s public image and ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent messaging across all media channels.

**Qualifications**
- Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in media relations, journalism, or strategic communications.

**Requirements**:

- Strong understanding of the media landscape and the ability to build effective relationships with journalists and media outlets.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing high-pressure communications situations with professionalism and tact.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of municipal government and public sector communications is an asset.
- Serve as the first point of contact for media inquiries and coordinate timely, accurate responses.
- Draft speaking notes for the Mayor and acting councillors to support public engagements and media appearances.
- Provide support for issues management, including tracking emerging issues, preparing key messages, and advising internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate media interviews, including briefing materials and messaging for City staff.
- Develop and maintain positive, proactive relationships with local, regional, and national media to promote fair and balanced coverage of City initiatives.
- Monitor media coverage across all platforms and provide daily briefings to internal stakeholders.
- Write and edit a wide range of materials, including media releases, statements, advisories, speeches, video scripts, social media content, and web content.
- Provide logístical and communications support for high-profile events, such as press conferences, public forums, podcast recordings, and video productions.
