Job Summary

Lab Assistant in Analytical operations stram (Quality Unit) ensures proper maintenance and functionality of Quality and R&D laboratories. Performs daily tasks as assigned by the Coordinator or Team Lead.

Job Responsibilities
As assigned by the Coordinator or Team Lead executes daily check and calibraitons on selected lab instruments (example: balances, pH meters, scales, Karl Fischer units, thermometers).
Glassware cleaning and disposal of broken pieces.
Handling and disposal of solvent and solid waste chemicals on daily basis.
Ensures continuous availability of HPLC solvents, reagents, standards and lab supplies.
Receives chemicals, solvents, general/safety supplies.
Updates HPLC and GC column inventories.
Submits work orders, and follows up on the status of repairs.
Assigns storage location for chemicals. Monitors condition of the chemical storage rooms.
Performs expiry checks for chemicals and removes expired chemicals from the lab and inventory.
Disposes of lab liquid and sold waste on a daily basis.
Maintains lab areas clean and tidy.
Documents the shipping and receiving of lab ware and chemicals, consults with Coordinator or designate to assign correct labelling and storage locations.
Completes annual physical inventory of the department’s chemical/lab ware inventory against the electronic inventory.
Works in a safe manner collaborating as a team member to achieve all outcomes.

Job Requirements
Education
Two Year Chemical Technician College diploma or related scientific field, or
High school diploma (chemistry courses required) with 3 years of industrial or laboratory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Must be physically able to periodically lift up to 20 Kg.
Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
Participate in a shift rotation and/or on-call if required. Shipping and receiving experience would be an asset.
Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes.

Performs all work in accordance with all established regulatory and compliance and safety requirements.
Experience
1-2 years of laboratory work experience
