- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from an Ontario College Certificate Program or an

Accredited Program with PSWEPA.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certified.
- Gentle Persuasion Approach Training
- Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario CPR (C) certification
- 2 years previous hospital PSW experience preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health Disorders.
- Knowledge and skill to maintain supplies and equipment.
- Ability to complete the required environmental cleaning.
- Excellent communication/time management/priority setting skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of asepsis principles.
- Excellent computer skills (Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager)
- Satisfactory attendance.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)**
- Monitoring patient that is in restraints.
- Monitoring patients that require 1-1 observation.
- Assisting patients as required with activities of daily living as directed
- Reporting significant patient presentation when monitoring to ensure patient safety.
- Providing direct and indirect care to patients, performing a variety of activities that support the

functions of all team members
- Preparing rooms daily and in between patients.
- Reporting damage or breakage of instruments and equipment.
- Providing general support to the unit for day to day functioning.
- Assisting with portering duties as required.
- Performing other duties as assigned to assist nursing staff.
