**_Direct Support Staff (multiple positions available)_**

**Jason’s Wheelhouse is a Not-For-Profit Recreation Centre for Special Needs / Higher Needs individuals.**

**_We are located at 60 Curtis Ave. N., in Paris, Ontario._**

**Employment Opportunities are available as a Part-time Employee, as a Contract Based Worker through a Staffing Agency, as an Independent Business Owners (self-employed contractor), depending on the needs of the business.**

**Responsibilities and Qualifications remain consistent regardless of the nature or duration of employment/contract.**

**Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to;**
- **Ensuring safety, always**:

- **Identifying hazards to our Clients, as well as yourself**:

- **Taking corrective action to re-establish a safe environment**:

- **Assist with activities of day-to-day living**:

- **Hygiene & bathing, meal preparation, clothing assistance**:

- **Fill in, and forward Activity logs as required**:

- **Meal preparation**:

- **Light household maintenance**:

- **Dishes, tidying up, etc.**:

- **Ability to follow and adhere to agreed upon Action Plans**

**Demonstrated Personal Qualities include;**
- **Compassion for working with higher-needs individuals**:

- **A ‘Client First’ approach to all responsibilities**:

- **Maturity, Professionalism, and Accountability**:

- **Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal**:

- **Strong decision-making abilities**:

- **Able to work independently, as well as in a Team Environment**:

- **Valid Class G Driver’s License, and a reliable means of Transportation**

**Preferred Qualifications include;**
- **Demonstrated knowledge of health-care**:

- **Experience supporting people with special needs including, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), Downs Syndrome, dual diagnosis, and other sensory needs**:

- **Certified, or working toward Certification as;**:

- **Personal Services Worker (PSW)**:

- **Social Services Worker (SSW)**:

- **Developmental Services Worker (DSW)**:

- **Community Social Worker (CSW)**:

- **Child and Youth Worker (CYW)**

**Trained in one of the following;**
- **Behaviour Management System (BMS)**:

- **Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCIT)**:

- **Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviour (PMAB)**:

- **Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour (UMAB)**:

- **Up to Date Standard First Aid and CPR Training**

**Physical Requirements include;**
- **Standing and/or sitting for long periods of time**:

- **Push/pull (as a means of assistance) up to 250 lbs**:

- **Lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, and from waist to shoulder height occasionally**:

- **Frequent bending, crouching, and reaching**

**Other;**
- **Valid Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check**:

- **Willingness to adhere to Internal Policies including our Confidentiality Agreement**
