**Position Summary**:
Responsible for direct supervision of Housekeeping, Linen personnel and building facilities Infection Control aspects to ensure orderly, safe, clean conditions within the building. This must be done in accordance with St. Joseph's Villa Management Standards set forth by government legislation and infection control guidelines and regulations.
**Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Environmental Services and Linen**:
- Oversee and guide environmental services and linen staff in a unionized environment
- Supervise and audit daily cleaning activities and routines to ensure that instructions, procedure and safety practices are followed and standards met.
- Work collaboratively with the team to ensure that daily assignments are covered to meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that waste management and disposal of refuse is handled in such a manner as to meet safety, health and sanitation regulations.
- Assist staffing with daily assignments as necessary and re-assign staff to offset absences due to vacation, illness, leaves or other reasons.
- Supervise and audits cleaning activities daily to determine that job routines, procedures and safety practices are followed and performance standards are met.
- Interview, hire and train new employees, give them guidance and direction, assign their tasks and closely supervise them until fully trained.
- Introduce staff to new equipment, materials and procedures and instruct on their use. Arrange education/training and in servicing for new and existing staff.
- Adapt schedules and procedures to serve the changing needs of the residents and the environment in order to provide quality service in a cost-effective manner.
- Work closely with Villa staff, outside sales representatives, and purchasing department, when evaluating new products and equipment.
- Work with the H & S Coordinator around any need for modified duties, related to workplace injuries.
- Address performance issues if/when work not being performed as per job description/audit results.
- Complete Performance Appraisals on all staff, and ensure all annual mandatory sessions are attended by all Housekeeping and Linen staff.
- Oversee pest control to ensure issues are addressed. Regular monitoring and maintenance.
- Oversee environmental service requests, in collaboration with the coordinator.
- Supervise and manages the performance of linen and environmental services department & staff in collaboration with Human Resources, the unionized environment, and according to policies and standards.
- Manage and ensure linen orders are filled accordingly and connect as needed with external provider for services.
**Duties, Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Facilities Infection Control**:
- In collaboration with the RCM Infection Control Lead and team members, oversee IPAC practices within the home.
- IPAC focus for facilities cleaning, best practices and management.
- Completes audits to support an effective quality system with a strong emphasis on infection and control practices.
- Member of the IPAC Committee, including Hand Hygiene committee
- Updates IPAC policies and practices as needed to align with best practices and Public Health guidelines.
- Complete Quality reports inclusive of department key performance indicators, as member of the CQI committee
**EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION**:
- Grade 12 Diploma
- CHHA Certificate or equivalent
- Infection Prevention and Control Education, certification preferred
- Previous healthcare, security, laundry, and housekeeping experience an asset
- Experience working safely as per OH&S Act., and reporting/eliminating any unsafe hazards immediately is preferred
