We are a private family managed support team who support one young man (with spina bifida) to live an ordinary and inclusive life that currently includes living in his own home (along with a supportive roommate), part time employment, toastmasters and his passions of baseball, hockey and model railroading. He is also currently searching for further employment and volunteer opportunities as well.

**Goal of position**: To mentor and support this young man to continue to improve his independence where ever possible and ensure his current employment, hobbies and routines are areas that continue to run smoothly.

Your schedule will have some flexibility to work both directly with this young man as well as indirectly within the community on his behalf and/or from home at times as this is a person centred support role where support may be needed more and/or less on some days, depending on the day.

We are looking for someone to be available primarily Monday - Friday between 11:30 & 4:30 with availability on some Saturdays

**Qualifications and Responsibilities**:

- Must have commitment and a strong belief in inclusion to understand and _share his desire to learn and live as independently as possible._
- Must be comfortable with personal care and be able to treat all situations with dignity and respect.
- Ability to facilitate relationships while acting as a social companion/friend
- Desire to motivate, facilitate and coach independence
- Willingness to work collaboratively with a team, communicate with the team and help team members where/if needed
- Must have a a strong work ethic and able to work independently
- Must have excellent communication, time management, critical thinking and organizational skills
- Must have a vehicle and a clean driving record
- Have or willing to obtain a criminal background check (vulnerable citizens check)
