**Overview**
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to help our elderly parent.

We are intending to provide him care in his home as an alternative to putting him in a skilled nursing facility.

He would require someone to be with him 16 hours a day so our intention is to hire as many people required to attain this. As such, hours are somewhat flexible and can be negotiated.

He presently is undergoing rehabilitation in California where he was located when he became acutely ill. We anticipate he will be returning via air ambulance to a bed in hospital in Halifax for a period of time before being discharged home. He lives in a beautiful home in Clayton Park. There is potential for live in if this is desired.

Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our father by offering support with daily activities and ensuring their comfort and safety.

**Responsibilities**
- Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Provide meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition through feeding.
- Support with mobility and transportation needs, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance well-being.
- Monitor health and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Assist with medication reminders and adherence as directed by healthcare providers.
- Engage in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.

**Skills**
- Experience in assisted living, hospice care, or nursing home environments is highly desirable.
- Strong caregiving skills with a focus on patient care and empathy.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for client mobility assistance.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques that cater to dietary restrictions or preferences.
- Familiarity with dementia care practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- A nurturing attitude combined with patience and understanding towards individuals requiring support
