Cedar Woman House is a women’s transition house located in the traditional territory of Snuneymuxw First Nation providing safe shelter and services to women and their dependent children who are at risk of violence or are experiencing violence. Due to the nature of the work, this position is only available to _**self-identifying women**_.

- Key Responsibilities:_
- Monitors and ensures the safety and comfort of residents and the security of the facility.
- Provides emotional support, encouragement, goal setting, and problem-solving support to residents.
- Provides information to residents on resources available. Advocates and refers clients as the client’s consent.
- Liaises with other service agencies and professionals. Maintains current knowledge of issues and resources related to abuse and violence.
- Must be physically capable of completing shift duties such as but not limited to, housekeeping services, ordering supplies/ groceries; and performing minor maintenance.
- Facilitates resolution of conflicts between residents.
- Provides crisis intervention and safety planning for residents and callers.
- Conducts intake interviews. Orients and assists residents to settle in the house.
- Maintains daily notes, documents, and operational forms, such as incident reports.
- Accompanies and/or transports residents to outside services.
- Performs other duties as required by the Transition House Director or Program Manager.
- Education and Experience:_
- Diploma in a related human/social service field or the equivalent in education and experience.
- One year of recent work experience in the area of violence against women an asset.
- Good working knowledge of Coast Salish teachings is an asset.
- Knowledge of the impacts of intergeneration trauma.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a good driving record.
- Valid First Aid certificate.
- Successful applicants must consent to a criminal record check.

- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to handle crisis and verbal crisis intervention and de-escalation.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - written and oral.
- Up to date understanding of computer technologies.

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $27.54 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 40 per week
