About You / What We Are Looking For

The City is currently recruiting for two Regular Full Time Forest Management Technicians to join our Parks group As part of a dynamic team in the Urban Forestry and Parks Services section of the Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities Department, the Forest Management Technician plays a key role in managing our Urban Forest including 2,000 acres of natural spaces. These natural spaces are highly valued by the community and are a refuge for vibrant wildlife populations and healthy runs of wild pacific salmon.

Minimum Qualifications
- Eligible for registration with the Association of BC Forest Professionals as a Registered Professional Forester, Registered Forest Technologist, Forester in Training or Trainee Forest Technologist.
- Certification as an Arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture as well as their International Society of Arboriculture Tree Risk Assessor Qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree or a post-secondary diploma in forestry or natural resource management is required, along with at least 3 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may also be considered.
- Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia (with a satisfactory driving report) is required.

What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $40.73 - $48.08. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
