**Integrated Pest and Disease Management Specialists**

**Job title**:IPM Specialist

**Location**:Dundas, Ontario

**Terms**:Full time

**About the Role**:The IPM Specialist is responsible for supporting NVK’s growers in developing and executing a comprehensive and harmonized IPM program across all production sites. This person will also be required to work collaboratively as part of NVK’s Plant Health Team to conduct and evaluate trials with a focus on improving plant quality, efficiency and sustainability.

**Responsibilities**:

- Continue to develop and improve IPM strategies for all production sites.
- Communicate with growers to identify and implement best practices to minimize pest and disease issues.
- Conduct regular scouting and inspections in order to collect and maintain current and accurate data on pest and disease pressure.
- Determine and respond to pest and disease thresholds, and economic injury levels for all crops and evaluate efficacy of control methods.
- Maintain inventory and proper storage and disposal of all chemicals.
- Ensure all spray equipment is maintained (with help from the maintenance team) and in good operating condition.
- Conduct training and development of staff in matters related to IPM as required.
- Act as Pest Control Manager liaison with CFIA in order to maintain compliance with export regulations.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices, participate in various certification programs, as well as industry and networking events.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree in horticulture or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience with IPM practices, scouting, crop protection and research.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively to maximize productivity and meet deadlines.
- Must be willing to have a certified pesticide applicator license within 6 months of hire date.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with suppliers and industry professionals.

**Transportation & Physical Requirements**
- Must have valid Ontario Driver’s license.
- Must have own vehicle.
- Some evening/weekend work may be required.
- Continuously walk, stand, bend, kneel (and remain working below knee-level) as well as reaching overhead, and from side to side for long periods of time.
- Work indoors and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

**Experience**:

- IPM scouting, crop protection & research: 3 years (preferred)
