We currently have an exciting career opportunity for a highly motivated and detailed oriented Manual Machinist to join our team at our head office located in Oakville, Ontario.

The majority of commodity or bulk items are manufactured through outsourcing, while high alloy and custom valves are manufactured in-house. The incumbent will use advanced problem solving capabilities to troubleshoot prototype designs and one off manufactures.

**Responsibilities**:

- **(including, but not limited to)**_
- Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of output.
- Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job.
- Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
- Fabricate and shape parts such out of metal, plastics and composites.
- Select appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a job.
- Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.
- Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed and identify issues.
- Valve assembly per order specifications and/or drawings.
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
- Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Production Supervisor.

**Personal Requirements**:

- Strong knowledge of mathematics and mechanics as well as respect for safety precautions.
- Possess excellent manual dexterity and an eye for detail.
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals.
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items (up to 65 lbs).
- Team player while being able to work independently when needed.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent problem solving ability.
- Attentive and on time.
- Experience with operating a forklift.
- Worked within a company with a Quality Assurance Program.
- WHMIS and/or First Aid Certificate.

**Education/Experience**:

- Vocational training as a manual machinist within a recognized province program or an apprenticeship will be an asset.
- Minimum of five years of machinist experience in an industrial environment.
- Tool & Die experience would be an asset.
