Bakery Production Assistant

**POSITION TITLE**:Kitchen/Bakery Production Assistant (Full-Time)

**LOCATION**:Village Kitchen (Scarborough, Ontario)

**TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR**:Manager, Bakery Department

**Scope**

The Kitchen/Baker Production Assistant works in our production facility located at 111 Finchdene Square in Scarborough, Ontario. This role is responsible for assisting in the production of high-quality, made-from-scratch food products in a precise and efficient manner.

**Role Requirements**
- 3-5 years experience or a recent graduate of a certified culinary or baking program at an accredited college
- Flexible and available to work early mornings, afternoons and weekends when required (extended hours, holidays shifts on occasions)
- Must be able to endure medium/high levels of physical exertion (standing, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, freezer work, etc.)
- Equipment operation (weigh scales, blow torch, sheeter, dough depositor, mixers, ovens, knives, stove, proofer, rolling bakers racks)
- Successful communication with supervisors, co-workers, and customers (in-person & telephone orders)
- Observes company code of conduct, policies, and store rules
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed

**Key Responsibilities**
- Accurately produce all food products according to our standard recipes
- Production of:
Responsible for the production of cheese cakes, batters, doughs, laminated doughs, pastry, fillings, custards, mousses and icings, baking of muffins, loaves, quick-breads, scones, cookies, cheesecakes, pastries, pies, sponge cakes, squares, etc.
- End of day cleaning responsibilities

**Working Conditions**
- Inside, freezer work on occasion

- Stamina: kitchen production staff often stand for long periods of time, ability to operate ovens for extended periods of time, and are required to lift medium to heavy objects

- Responsibility Success: Effectively manage and complete all aspects of key responsibilities

In the last ten years, it began to provide those same products to many other quality food retailers across the province who wanted high quality products for their own retail stores. Due to this increasing demand, the Village Kitchen expanded in 2023 with a new production facility located in Scarborough, Ontario.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
