Part-time Visual Merchandiser

**JOB SUMMARY**

The role of the Part Time Visual Merchandising (VM) is to develop, deliver and communicate visual concepts and strategies to promote the La-Z-Boy brand, products and services in our physical stores. This individual will have display responsibility for specific stores within the company and collaborates closely with various departments to ensure that the visual concepts are carried out effectively. Collaboration is expected with store managers, sales, design, marketing, operational and administration teams. External to the company, it is expected that the position interacts with product suppliers.

The role includes day-to-day floor planning responsibilities.

This individual will achieve mutually agreed upon targets in key areas by maximizing store displays for turn rates and marketability, while ensuring accuracy and consistency with the recent core line-ups.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Walks floors with Lead Visual Merchandiser and Managers and assists with building work plan for the stores; includes
- identifying open spaces and plan for product within that space (coordinating core / clearance / weekly specials placement as required)
- support Lead Visual Merchandiser with transfers as required for moving product to floors
- Executing weekly work plan
- using floor plans; direct / place furniture as per weekly plan
- replace / hang / tag / augment accessories as required
- Floor Space & Visuals
- Implements floor space plan in the store (core / weekly specials / non-core)
- ensures all vignettes are accessorized (lamps, rugs, tables, and table top)
- vignettes are kept clean / tidy and ready for client visit at all times
- coordinates with sales / store manager, ensures areas of responsibility (AORs) are maintained; training staff, where required, on how to do so according to visual standard
- ensure all product in-store is correctly labeled / priced
- periodic inventory counts and inventory verification
- manage and ensure visual display supplies are maintained (wires, nails, labels, etc.)
- Point of Sale Materials (POS Materials)
- provides list of required materials for their respective stores to Lead Visual Merchandiser for ordering and distributes as required within their respective stores, with sales taking lead on promotional changeover and merchandising leading any new POS within the store
- backs-up Lead Visual Merchandiser and/or Marketing Coordinator for POS ordering function and its related control process
- Product movement responsibilities
- monitors incoming product (ETS) and actions accordingly
- incoming core / Weekly Specials with prioritization based on floor space
- incoming lamps / artwork / accessories for immediate floor transfer
- coordinate and action floor transfers as part of weekly work plans
- Report damages on upholstery/casegoods to store desk staff who will open appropriate service ticket
- Meet or exceed established goals for visual appearance
- Communicate weekly plans, merchandising documentation and product movement to related parties in a timely fashion
- Resolve design and sales concerns and complaints in a courteous, timely and professional manner when the Lead Visual Merchandiser is not available
- Gain a solid understanding of the competitive environment: product, visual display, trends, pricing, etc. and translate to merchandising team, sales and management competitive differentiators
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post secondary education in decor / merchandising or related field or combination of education and related experience
- 1-3 years of proven merchandising experience in a related environment
- Previous supervisory experience in a team environment would be considered an asset
- Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
- Strong interpersonal skills

**OTHER INFORMATION**
- A vehicle is required as local travel between Ottawa and Gatineau will be required.
- Must be able to stand for extended period of time
- Must be able to lift loads exceeding 45 KGs
- Must be bilingual (English/French)
- Criminal Record Check will be required

Pay: $17.20 per hour
