Reporting to the Director - HR Services and working closely with the HR Business Partnerships Team, the HR Generalist administers, develops, implements and improves new and existing HR processes, including Onboarding, Offboarding, Leaves of Absence, Job Changes, External Secondments, Co-Op Hiring, Student Practicum Placements, Employee Record Retention, Training and Development, etc.
To promote a positive workplace culture and relationships at Ontario Health, HR Generalists ensure compliance with HR legislation and Ontario Health HR policies, processes and best practices.
Here is what you will be doing:
The Human Resources Generalist contributes to the success of the HR Team through the following actions:
- Implements and administers HR Services and Programs to support employee-life cycle events, including but not limited to Onboarding, Offboarding, Leaves of Absence, Job Changes, Employment Contracts, External Secondments, Co-Op Hiring, Student Practicum Placements, Employee Record Retention, Training and Development, and Leadership Development, etc.- Leads development and improvements of various HR programs and services that strengthen Ontario Health’s ability to lead- Creates best practice standard operating procedures, templates, FAQ, and support resources to better inform and educate team members and people leaders regarding HR Services and Programs- Collaborates with cross-functional teams such as End User Computing, Facilities, Payroll, Strategic Sourcing, Internal Audit, Legal and Finance Teams to support the delivery of the full range of human resources-related programs and services- Conducts regular audits of HR processes, records, and documentation to identify compliance gaps; report audit findings to HRLT, Internal Audit Team and external auditors- Works closely with the HRBPs and Senior Advisor, Labour & Employee Relations in union-related activities such as bargaining, grievance preparation, onboarding requirements (immunization) and reporting (seniority lists, compensation audits etc.)- Works with the Workday Support team to configure, test and improve the system based on gaps in business processes and/or opportunities for increased efficiency and alignment with OH policies and practices- Creates, tests and maintains Workday resources, job aids and guides- Maintains accurate and up-to-date employee records and administers all employment lifecycle changes in Workday- Administers Onboarding, Recruitment and Exit Surveys and analyzes feedback to identify trends and opportunities for improvements- As the first point of contact for all HR-related inquiries, triages HR-related inquiries referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate teams- First-point of contact for new hires, conducts new employee orientations, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for all new hires- Accountable for recruitment-related activities in support of talent attraction efforts- Supports people leaders and HR Team in processing transactions such as contract end dates, employees returning from leave, yearly union step progressions, and compensation changes- Leads and advises hiring and onboarding of co-op and student hires, as well as the maintenance of partnerships with educational institutions- Supports voluntary and involuntary terminations, including offboarding and asset retrieval- Assists the Learning and Development Team with logistics and support administration of various workshops and training sessions- Anticipates changing circumstances and raises opportunities that may benefit Ontario Health; remains persistently focused on
