Reporting to the IT Director, you will be responsible for the organization’s privacy program, including but not limited to monitoring program compliance, and the maintenance of policies and procedures.
**Hard skills**
- Ability to progressively learn and understand Indigo's operating environment, policies, strategic objectives, and risk profile.
- Experience in implementing complaints handling and dispute resolution processes.
- Working knowledge to oversee and conduct Personal Information Assessments (PIA).
**Soft skills**
- Ability to develop and manage relationships with internal stakeholders and members of the public is critical for successful performance in the role of a privacy officer. A large part of the role is engaging with colleagues, including encouraging them to seek your input and members of the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively complex privacy matters messages in clear, plain French / English terms, with empathy and understanding for the person receiving advice.
- Willingness for continuous improvement given that laws change, new guidance material is published, and the business process continuously evolves.
**Responsibilities**
- Compliance and Monitoring: Identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring any potential or actual privacy compliance issues involving Indigo’s handling of personal information.
- Policies, Procedures, and Practices: Ensuring that appropriate policies, procedures, and practices regarding personal information are developed, implemented, maintained, and revised from time to time as necessary for compliance with Privacy Laws and with Indigo’s legal requirements and contractual obligations. The Privacy Officer must approve all policies, procedures, and practices.
- Training/Awareness: Overseeing Indigo’s privacy training and awareness program for Indigo personnel.
- Requests, Inquiries, and Complaints: Managing Indigo’s responses to requests, inquiries, and complaints regarding personal information and privacy rights.
- Information Security: Ensuring that appropriate safeguards (including physical, organizational, and technological measures) are in place to protect the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of personal information that is in Indigo’s custody or under Indigo’s legal control.
- Privacy Impact Assessments: Participating in each PIA conducted by or on behalf of Indigo and suggesting measures to protect personal information involved in the project.
- Represent Indigo in Privacy Matters: Representing Indigo in its dealings with third parties, including federal and provincial governments, law enforcement, and privacy regulators, on matters relating to Indigo’s handling of personal information and personal information that is in Indigo’s custody or under Indigo’s legal control.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary Education and/or professional designations
- 3+ years of related experience
- Strong communication, critical thinking, relationship management, and project management skills
- Data and privacy security certifications are considered an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- CIPP/C certification an asset
