**Overview**
**Duties**
- Prepare and cook delicious & nutritional meals appropriate for students from k-12
- Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety regulations and guidelines. Work in accordance with WorkSafe BC, VIHA as well as fire & health department requirements.
- Assist in the planning and execution of daily meal preparation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper food handling practices.
- Collaborate with Executive Chef to ensure timely weekly production.
- Help monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients, reporting any shortages as needed.
- Help train new volunteers on food preparation techniques and safety protocols.
- Participate in menu development by providing input on seasonal ingredients and dish ideas & perform other duties required for production.
**Qualifications**
- Previous 4 years of experience in the food industry or restaurant environment is required.
- Food Safe level 1 & must pass a vulnerable screen criminal record check.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques.
- Strong skills in meal preparation, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment operation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrate understanding of working in an environment with a variety of volunteers, students and vendors from diverse cultural & economic backgrounds.
- A passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field.
