Family Engagement Facilitator

**Job Summary**
The family engagement facilitator will ensure that the unique needs of families are met within the programs. The Family Engagement Facilitator must be able to work with individuals living with mental health, trauma, and/or addiction issues. This role involves advocacy, conducting assessments, facilitating access to resources and services, developing individualized treatment plans, counseling, crisis intervention, and skill-building activities to promote recovery and well-being while supporting differing family dynamics.
**SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Facilitate discussion and training with treatment staff regarding working effectively and from a strength
- based and trauma-informed approach with families at BHF.
- In partnership with the Daycare Director coordinate involvement of parents in the daycare programs.
- Remain abreast of daily occurrences of families by reading the reports and participating in shift change meetings and other staff meetings.
- Work with the Daycare Director and K - 6 teacher to plan for and respond to developmental and emergent needs of children and families.
- Use BHF’s Framework for Parenting Discussion to assist parents in developing confidence and competency regarding physical needs, communication, emotions, response to conflict/misbehaviour.
- Attend and participate in weekly Team Meetings and Case Discussions and follow-up on information as necessary.
- Model Circle of Security skills or other communication course and assist parents in using effective communication and problem solving with children.
- Encourage and assist parents to plan to meet the children's needs.
- Provide and/or arrange individual and family counselling as the need arises.
- Lead seminars and workshops for groups of parents on childcare, child development and health-related topics.
**RQUALITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Graduate of an accredited Community College or University with major course work in Family Studies or Social Sciences with two years experience or demonstrate an extraordinary ability complimented by life experience and other training that will allow the performance of duties.
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous history, culture, practices, customs, and beliefs.
- Able to work with mínimal supervision and exercise mature judgment.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must be self-motivated and well organized.
