**PROFILE**

We are currently recruiting for a Learning and Development Specialist to join our Innovation and Knowledge Programs team. As a new position for Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP, the specialist will work closely with the Manager, Learning & Development to execute on a firm-wide learning and development strategy and multi-year plan. This individual will be responsible for supporting the design, development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of curriculum and programs that strengthen the skills and performance of the firm’s legal professionals and business services team members nationally.

As a member of our national team, this role can be based in any of the following offices: Calgary, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Waterloo, or Vancouver. Gowling WLG (Canada) LLP employees benefit from a hybrid work environment.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with the Manager, Learning & Development on the design, development and execution of the learning and development strategy and annual plans for the firm.
- Support the design, development and implementation of specific learning and development programs including:

- Research and plan topics and delivery formats for specific programs;
- Collaborate with internal presenters and external providers and guide content development and program delivery aligned with instructional design best practices and the firm’s learning and development strategy;
- Collaborate with local offices and departments to plan and implement learning and development initiatives;
- Lead the program evaluation process, including analyzing results, sharing emerging themes and implementing improvements; and
- Work with the Information Technology (IT) department to maintain learning resources on the firm’s intranet and other platforms.
- Respond to learning and development requests, analyze needs and make recommendations for new and existing programs.
- Work with the Human Resources (HR), IT and Legal Talent groups on onboarding and ongoing professional and skill development programs for law students, associates, and business services team members.
- Lead small to medium sized learning and development projects:

- Define learning objectives and create outlines and instructional design plans;
- Work with technology tools to design and develop online learning programs; and
- Oversee the delivery of learning programs provided by external vendors.
- Remain current with the latest trends in learning and instructional design methodologies and technologies.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Five years of related experience planning, designing, and supporting the delivery and evaluation of adult learning programs in a corporate or professional services setting.
- Post-secondary education in a related field, with professional certification or equivalent experience in learning and development.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong technical aptitude with excellent knowledge of and experience with MS Office.
- Experience with learning management systems, eLearning authoring tools, and virtual classroom and webinar platforms preferred.
- Proficient presentation skills with the ability to adapt content to different skill levels and audiences with distinct learning styles.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including in virtual and hybrid environments.
- Entrepreneurial and creative attitude.
- Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to establish and redefine priorities as necessary.
- Project management experience an asset.
- Fluency in French, both written and verbal, is an asset
