Hotel Receiver

The Receiver plays a vital role in the successful operation of the entire property. Awareness, consistency, cleanliness and care are all hallmarks of this position and necessary to be effective. The receiver’s main role is to receive, unload, and process deliveries and distribute them to appropriate departments. The proactive individual in this role works hard and takes great pride in maintaining a clean and organized back of house area.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Maintain cleanliness of the receiving bay and dry goods area, ensuring all equipment is in full working order and any necessary cleaning agents are stocked
- Maintain and clean FOH storage room and cooler on level LG
- Maintain cleanliness of hotel garbage area and trash compactor area, assist with removal as needed.
- Ensure invoices for each delivery are given to the correct dept
- Ensure invoices are labelled with correct dept from each supplier (ie. Pearle Hotel - Events)
- Receive, unload, and process deliveries and distribute to appropriate department (including but not limited to restaurant/bar/kitchen)
- Follow protocol for proper storage of food products (ie not on floor)
- Verify and track received inventory and complete inventory reports and logs
- Troubleshoot vendor delivery issues and oversee return process
- Adhere to food safety and handling policies and procedures across all food-related departments or areas
- Inspect deliveries and date times to verify freshness, cleanliness, consistency, and quality
- Notify manager/supervisor of low stock levels in a timely manner
- Notify on duty manager once receivables have been delivered to respectable dept for secondary inspection
- Work with suppliers to resolve discrepancies between invoices and actual received merchandise
- Actively & positively participate in cleaning all areas of responsibility and make cleanliness a priority
- Reduce accidents by always using the correct signage when equipment is out of order or floors are wet.
- Regularly remove full waste bags and recycling and carry to the appropriate outdoor receptacles from F&B depts
- Follow established cleaning schedule and always use proper food handling procedures
- Effectively manage time to ensure organizational efficiency
- During peak periods, demonstrate a sense of urgency while remaining poised and seek out additional tasks during slower periods
- Understand the importance of the receiver’s contribution, know how and when to ask for help
- Ensure the health and safety by consistently following proper procedures for the use and storage of any chemicals. Replenish par levels of chemicals as needed
- Organize cleaning supplies, ensuring all the necessary labels are in place and easy to read
- Use initiative, accept, and handle responsibility and be able to be flexible
- Maintain positive relationships within the team unit as well as with those outside of it, work together with others toward the common goal of success across the property

**What we would like you to bring to the position**:

- WHMIS certification
- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Receiving experience considered an asset
- Hotel Experience an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, multitask and prioritize tasks
- Willingly accept additional tasks as required for the effective functioning of the work unit
- Take direction and instruction well from the management teams
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and tidy kitchen and work space
- Confidently operate an industrial dishwash machine
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Capable of frequent bending, standing, and walking for extended periods of time (8-hour shifts)
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to meet the business needs of a 24/7 hotel environment, including weekends, and holidays
