**About the role**:
This role supports the claims litigation function of the Legal Department. Responsibilities include reviewing legal appeals, preparing correspondence, conducting research and investigations, and communicating with law firms and other third parties.

**You are great at**:

- Coordinating and managing the legal appeals process and communicating decisions to lawyers
- Participating in weekly Appeals Committee meetings
- Preparing legal correspondence including denial letters and Small Claims Court documents
- Liaising with law firms, clients, applicable internal departments and external third parties
- Conducting claims investigations; preparing and tracking file summaries
- Researching case law, general legal principles and other legal academic literature; providing key summaries for legal department
- Managing the tracking system for all lawsuits; monitoring and providing updates on progress of all files
- Managing communications with collection agencies relating to outstanding invoices
- Preparing file copies and other written correspondence for the Operations and Legal department
- Performing other administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as needed

**What it takes**:

- College Diploma/Degree in a Paralegal/legal program is preferred
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a legal role/function; legal academic placement experience will be considered
- Strong attention to detail with ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments within the parameter of instructions given
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion
- Strong customer service skills, responsive and professional
- Aptitude for new technologies and knowledge of Excel
- Fluency in French is an asset
