Base31 is Prince Edward County’s newest cultural destination, set on a 70-acre historic former WWII air training base just outside of Picton, Ontario. Purchased in 2021 by PEC Community Partners, the site has undergone an ambitious transformation, restoring heritage buildings, reimagining the landscape, and creating dynamic public spaces filled with art, live music, and exciting food and drink experiences.

Since opening in 2022, Base31 has become a thriving hub of creativity and culture, drawing visitors from across the region and beyond. The site has hosted hundreds of events, from large-scale festivals and concerts to intimate performances by Canada’s top musicians. It has also introduced a bustling open-air food & drink market, immersive art experiences, after-dark adventures, and interactive programming. Visitors can explore galleries, escape rooms, outdoor play spaces, children’s camps and arts programs, and curated group experiences, with culinary adventures and creative installations adding to its ever-evolving energy.

In 2025, a new exhibition hall will open, further celebrating the site's rich heritage and its impact on the local community, as well as on a national and global scale. Across Base31, visitors will have opportunities to engage with its history through guided tours, exhibitions, and interactive storytelling experiences that bring the past to life.

Looking ahead, Base31 will continue to evolve as a hub for creativity, heritage, food, and community, introducing fresh experiences and amenities that inspire play, discovery, relaxation, and connection, reflecting the distinct spirit of Prince Edward County. In the coming years, the surrounding area will also grow, with new rental and home ownership opportunities enhancing its vibrancy and appeal.

**POSITION TYPE**:
Type: Part Time & Full Time

Salary: $20/hour

Location: Picton, Ontario (onsite required, including occasional weekend presence during growing season)

Start date: April 2025

**OVERVIEW**:
This is a rare opportunity to join the Site Operations team and help generate the landscape as part of the wider revitalization of Base31 (formerly known as Loch Sloy business park and Camp Picton), covering over 70 acres of land in Picton, Ontario.

The Site Operations Associate will ensure Base31 smooth and safe operation through routine maintenance, repairs and upkeep. As well as, construct plant beds, conduct plantings, irrigate and otherwise maintain and tend to landscape areas of the site.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Perform routine maintenance tasks on buildings, equipment and systems.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of Base31.
- Assist with general upkeep as needed.
- Operate and care for landscape maintenance equipment such as mowers, trimmers, irrigation accessories and pumps, etc.
- Garden maintenance including, but not limited to mulching, planting, weeding, watering, grass cutting, bug plucking, and overall care for the plants and aesthetic.
- Build structures such as raised beds, shade structures, watering stations and more. Familiarity and comfort with basic building skills is considered a major asset.
- Fall preparation includes burlapping and plant protection, water tank storage, equipment maintenance and storage for Winter.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Minimum one (1) year of garden maintenance in a professional setting or equivalent experience.
- Basic skills and knowledge of hand tools and light construction.
- Class G license.
- Clothing to work comfortably in a variety of weather conditions.
- Tractor operating experience is considered an asset.
- A fun and reliable attitude.
