Position Overview:
This position will provide front line support for a full range of human resources services to all levels of leadership and employees within a specified geographic region to support the achievement of business objectives and goals.

The HR Business Partner acts as a partner to the line by embedding corporate HR strategy into day-to-day work and providing professional HR guidance and support to relevant internal client groups with the objective of adding value to the business.

**Job Description**:

- Provide expertise and coaching for leaders in all areas of Human Resources; including employee relations, compensation, pension, benefits and disability, performance management, recruitment, selection and retention, training and development, and health and safety
- To build long term strategic relationships and partner with senior management to review and implement strategies around organizational structure, headcount requirements, employee engagement, performance management and leadership succession
- Pro-actively consult with, advise and support employees on all human resources related issues. Conduct harassment investigations, assist with terminations, monitor performance management, support training initiatives, and provide counsel on labor relations issues.
- Interpret and explain Collective Agreements, policies, procedures, and relevant legislation and coach management up to and including the arbitration process.
- Assist in the ongoing training, developing, and mentoring of Regional Human Resources Coordinators, including recruitment and selection, orientation, coaching, mentoring and performance feedback

Knowledge:

- Sound general knowledge of HR Programs, Policies & Procedures, Collective Agreements and relevant legislation coupled with business acumen.
- Maintain a current knowledge of HR best practices.
- Proficiency in the MS Office package coupled with knowledge of HMS, DBS, and internal programs.
- Extensive knowledge with organizational structure, change management, employee engagement, performance management, and leadership succession
- Understand and adhere to Finning policies and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of Finning health and safety policies and procedures.

Education & Experience:

- Post-secondary education in human resources management, labour relations management or a related field.
- 5+ or more years of professional-level human resource generalist experience, working and collaborating with business leaders in a consultative capacity.
- Previous experience working with HRIS systems. Previous experience with Workday considered an asset.
- HR designation (CPHR) or significant progress towards completion considered an asset
- Experience working within a unionized heavy industrial environment is preferred.
