**Production Supervisor**

**_ Job Overview:_**

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supporting SME’s feature and television production teams, ensuring that all project milestones are met. The Production Supervisor must have a strong understanding of animation pipelines. This role is also the primary physical production liaison between SME, and, the project’s creative team including Story Editor/Director/Showrunner, rights holders, and toy team, and internal departments and television broadcasters.

**_ Reporting Relationships:_**

This position reports to the SVP Entertainment Production & Operations and will jointly manage the Line Producers with the VP Production.

**_ Job Responsibilities:_**
- During pre-production of a project, create a project’s production schedule and production assumptions, and manage budget parameters.
- During production, ensure that a production is completed on time and within budget while ensuring the pre-established creative integrity of a production is maintained, protected and delivered.
- Assist with the set-up and implementation financial monitoring systems, controlling production expenditures and production materials, and monitoring and controlling the progress of a project’s production.
- Oversee all pre-production through to post-production activities including hiring the production team, ensuring compliance with SME’s regulations and codes of practice, sourcing equipment and suppliers, engaging third party vendors.
- Support Production Teams to motivate a proactive approach to trouble shooting and a calm, pragmatic, and real-time strategy to problem solving.
- Mentor production staff by providing ongoing guidance and skill development opportunities.
- Meet project deadlines/milestones as assigned or required by SME.
- Manage strategic professional relationships, including with production crews and third party vendors.
- Support the Showrunner/Director(s) of the project and providing support for him/her/them with time management issues, and with problem solving in respect of the creative and production pipeline for a project.
- As required, attending voice records, mixes and online and offline edits.
- Assist with production related insurance requirements and/or claims.
- Supervise asset management and working with SME’s Data Asset Coordinator in connection with same.
- Lead by example with best practices of people management.
- Other tasks as may be required by SME’s SVP of Production.

**_ Qualifications_**
- In-depth understanding of the animation production process - both 2D and 3D.
- In-depth experience in line producing animated children’s television series productions is essential.
- A thorough understanding of and experience working with the rules, laws, regulations, policies regarding development, production and exploitation of Canadian content animated productions including CAVCO and OMDC rules and policies, CMF guidelines and policies.
- College or University Degree.
- Strong organizational and time management skills essential.
- A high level of proficiency in Word, Final Draft, Power Point and Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in production scheduling and budgeting including thorough knowledge of the physical and technical processes for production of Canadian content children’s animated television series.
- Knowledge and understanding of collective bargaining agreements and, in particular the provisions relating to animation: WGC IPA, WGA, DGC, and ACTRA IPA.
- A calm approach to all situations and ability to problem solve quickly, creatively and logically.
- Thorough understanding of and experience working with customary broadcast delivery guidelines, requirements and technical specifications.
- Excellent industry contacts.
- Ability to multitask on several production issues at once and to prioritize.
- Able to work under pressure to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, as well as diplomacy to balance the creative expectations of the director(s), artists and other creative personnel, with the financial resources available.
- Minimum of 5 years working in a senior management capacity in the animated series and/or feature film industry.
