The Research Coordinator position is for a twelve-month, Part-Time (0.80 FTE) term position.

Job Summary
Organizational Status
This position reports to the Principal Investigator at UBC-Vancouver. As a leading member of an active, interdisciplinary research program, the Research Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the Principal Investigator and academic and community partners.
Work Performed
The Research Coordinator collaborates with the Principal Investigator to plan and coordinate research activities and events based on the priorities for independent and collaborative projects. The Research Coordinator is responsible for the completion of tasks and the provision of necessary guidance to all associated research staff and trainees. Discrete activities and tasks for advancing the research program and related projects and tasks will also be assigned.
- Major responsibilities include:_
- Identifying and planning research strategies based on the priorities of the Principal Investigator
- Overseeing research grant expenditures (determining eligible expenses against budget allocations), transferring of funds as necessary, overseeing the maintenance of internal records)
- Identifying and refining research questions based on findings from literature reviews
- Developing, drafting, and reviewing study protocols based on literature review and knowledge gaps in the existing literature
- Overseeing the implementation of research projects to ensure that funding agency and ethical requirements are met
- Supervising, delegating to, and monitoring the work of students and staff
- Building awareness in the community about the research program and projects; preparing presentations to community organizations and responding to queries about the project; and meeting with community partners throughout the conduct of the research.
- Co-leading data collection, management, and analysis. This involves meeting with prospective participants and obtaining informed consent, planning and conducting qualitative interviews, de-identifying data to ensure research data is coded and analyzed accurately.
- With the Principal Investigator, preparing manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for academic journals and conferences, alongside other knowledge mobilization activities
- Reporting to the Principal Investigator (or delegate) regarding the research progress, data quality, documentation concerns, timelines, and any troubleshooting needed
- Contributing to an optimal workplace culture and environment
- Performing other related duties
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors in performance of the above-related duties could have a significant impact on the effectiveness, reputation, collaboration, and financial status of the research program and related projects and activities. Inappropriate judgment could result in fundamental flaws in the research process and conclusions, funding shortfalls for research grants or contracts, and jeopardized research partnerships. In addition, if established protocols related to privacy, confidentiality, and safety are not followed, confidentiality about sensitive information related to research participants’ personal health and experiences could be breached.
Supervision Received
The Research Coordinator will work independently under the general direction of the Principal Investigator, receiving specific guidance on unusual or complex research problems. They will exercise a considerable amount of autonomy, discretion, and initiative in determining work procedures and methods.
