Safety Officer

Job duties
- Implement safety practices, policies and plans of the company.
- Accept full authority to take any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the authority to cease an unsafe operating procedure.
- Ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other applicable regulations.
- Overlook the safety requirements of field projects, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule.
- Train employees in safety management best practices.
- Assist with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures.
- Recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent safety audit results.
- Conduct accident investigations as necessary to assist with liability determination and causation.
**Requirements**:
- 5 years experience as a Safety officer in a similar field (experience in aviation safety would be considered a strong asset)
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
- Understanding and knowledge of all Federal, Provincial rules and regulations pertaining to safety codes and Occupational Health and Safety rules
- Experience assessing training needs, creating training materials to fulfill those needs, and then delivering the training
- Advanced written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate and improve others
- Strong time management and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Previous experience in airborne geophysics would be considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Some travel to project sites may be required
- Overtime as required.
