We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Prep Cook/Dishwasher to join our kitchen team. In this dual role, you will be responsible for meal preparation, cooking, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform basic food prep under the supervision of chefs or cooks
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, weighing, and ensuring that they are the correct quantity and quality
- Prepare simple dishes, such as salads and entrees
- Comply with sanitation and food safety plans, adhere to highest standards of maintaining cleanliness and appearance, utilize task-appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment such as gloves, hair restraints, facemasks
- Set up, stock and organize kitchen stations with all necessary supplies; maintain appropriate inventory
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and taking out trash
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned

Education / Experience
- Food Safe Level 1 certification
- 1 year experience as a prep cook in a commercial kitchen with demonstrated experience of the safe and appropriate use of kitchen equipment
- First Aid Level 1 Certification an asset
- WHMIS Certification an asset

Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of safe work practices including relevant WorkSafeBC requirements and responsibilities, current public health, hygiene and food handling safety practices and procedures
- Ability to follow recipes, use standardized ingredients and meet expectations for the distribution of food products
- Superior organizational, prioritization and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and listening skills; effective interpersonal, teamwork and conflict resolution abilities; ability to remain calm while performing multiple tasks in a demanding environment

Skills / Abilities
- Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Work independently and as part of a team with effective time management
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment and machines safely
- Demonstrate professional standards of personal conduct, accountability, and competence
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with the leadership teams, staff, and tenants
- Communicate, problem solve and resolve conflicts

Working Conditions
- Standing or walking throughout entire work shift
- Frequent lifting and moving of objects up to 20 kg
- Noisy and fast-paced work environment

Other Requirements
- Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Class 5 B.C. DL with clean Driver’s Abstract; plus access to a vehicle
- May be required to work evenings or weekends
