As part of the Trillium project based in Ottawa, we are seeking a Health and Safety Trainer to join our growing team. The Health and Safety Trainer will exhibit strong leadership skills and absolute commitment to safety throughout all phases of the project:
**How will you contribute to the team?**
- Responsible for the development and delivery of H&S training framework across the project.
- Regularly audit or arrange for the audit of the elements of the health and safety system, and to suggest ways of improving them.
- Regularly audit and inspect the operation for compliance with the Act, Regulations and company policies / procedures.
- Advise employees, supervisors and management personnel on technical safety & health matters.
- Advise trainers on the safety and health content of training courses.
- Provide management with statistical reports.
- Participate in the JHSC either as a member or a resource
- Attend crew safety meetings on a selective basis either as an observer or presenter.
- Supervise & support the medical support system with preventative programs and WSIB issues.
- Develop and conduct Supervisory training courses.
- Ensure the Trillium Project site induction training programs are presented to all new employees, contractors and visitors.
- Support the facilitation and conduct of Worker Trade Committees (WTC) and Joint Health & Safety Committees (JHSC).
- Audit the workplace, identify hazards and make recommendations to reduce exposure to the workforce - this could be via specifically developed material.
- Maintain safety documents, data tracking and complete analytics, follow-up on all Safety Audit items.
- Building a working relationship with Contractors and ensure compliance to all safety policies, ensuring local standards and regulations are observed.
- Maintaining day-to-day oversight of safety programs and compliance.
- Reviewing new standards, rules, and regulations to determine relevancy to the project.
- Documenting and communicating all incidents, proactive prevention measures, training logs.

**What will you contribute?**
- Minimum 5 years’ H&S experience, including Occupational Health and Safety Systems Management and working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in leadership roles with the ability to facilitate workshops, meetings and presentations.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas, Construction, Infrastructure (preferably Rail) industries.
- Team player with strong leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan and schedule programs and activities, demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
- A valid Driver’s License is required
- English literacy and effective communication skills both verbal and written. French literacy is desirable, not essential.
