The Health and Safety Consultant will be responsible for working with assigned firms, emerging firms and other organizations within their assigned geographical region to assist them in creating a self-sustaining internal responsibility system (IRS). In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for assessing health and safety training needs and recommending health and safety solutions to both member and non-member firms. The duties will include, but are not limited to health and safety consulting, articulating the IHSA value proposition to our membership, training and working with key health and safety stakeholders within the assigned geographical region. The Health and Safety Consultant reports directly to the Manager, Regional Operations North & East.

**RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT**:It is a term and condition for the granting of employment in REQUIREMENT: this position and it will be a term and condition of continuing employment in this position that the individual’s permanent residence is within eighty (80) kilometre radius of 2515 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa, ON, K1H 8P5.

**SALARY**: $94,502.79 - $111,253.35

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Delivers and facilitates health and safety training programs that adhere to current provincial and/or federal legislation that support organizational policies, procedures and objectives to a variety of participants (senior management, supervisors, and front line workers).
- Engages in consulting practices in relation to customer inquiries for occupational health and safety information through various methods including electronic communication, virtual meetings and in person meetings and site visits.
- Coordinates with Operations and Stakeholder Relations to participate in and attend planned regional events to gain knowledge and insight to local health and safety related business requirements and to build strong strategic partnerships to assess, identify and develop a plan to meet those requirements.
- Complete accurate and timely reporting requirements including expenses, monthly activity reports and performance evaluations as required ensuring IHSA can submit accurate and complete reports for internal and external stakeholders. Prepare, maintain and complete requests from the regional operations department, includes but not limited to work scheduling, internal and external correspondence and departmental reporting.

**Planning & Coordinating**:

- Provide guidance, information, and solutions to support the internal responsibility system in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Complete, file and maintain accurate participant reports, grade tests and provide participant feedback.
- Consult and support stakeholders to develop and maintain a self-sustaining Internal Responsibility System.
- Coordinate with assigned member and non-member firms, unions and trade sectors, schedule, and facilitate structured IHSA courses.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and system partners, including but not limited to Senior Management, Site project coordinator, Supervisor, worker, union and other professionals.

**Communication**:

- Scheduling of events, product orders, administrative support, peer support.
- Ensure course material orders have been placed and received for upcoming training programs.
- Co-ordinating with clients to provide information and guidance through consulting activities and arranging training.
