The Assistant Controller is responsible for supporting the Finance-Accounting team by performing a multitude of tasks related to the entire accounting cycle including bookkeeping, data entry, performing various reconciliations and producing various reports and returns.
**Principal responsibilities**:
Payable
- Supervise the payables team
- Ensure the validation of the invoices in the right accounts and the right periods.
- Analyze and re-evaluate the age of payables and receivables monthly
- Prepare KPIs on payables, various reports
General accounting
- Supervise the general accounting team
- Conduct monthly analytical review of financial statements and explain variances
- Assist the accounting technician in the management of the Concur expense system;
- Validate the balance sheet analyses prepared by the accountant and the accounting technician
- Monthly analyses of certain income statement and balance sheet items
- Participate in the elaboration of a monthly dashboard for the management
- Signing for the participants' company
- Be the resource for assistance on receiving transactions
- Assist the Controller with various projects and tasks as required,
- Other related requests.
**Desire profile**:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent
- CPA designation or in the process of obtaining one.
- 5-7 years experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP (an asset)
- Experience in supervising staff
- Good knowledge of the accounting cycle
- Good organizational skills, management of priorities and respect of deadlines
- Positive attitude, oriented towards continuous improvement
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel software
- Good communication skills in French and English (written and oral)
- Natural propensity for teamwork
- Methodical and meticulous
