**Job Summary**
The Regional Safety Manager will be responsible for leading a team of Occupational Health and Safety Officers to ensure legislative and organizational policy/procedure compliance and adherence to construction/building maintenance safety best practices within the Infrastructure Support Department. The position also identifies and provides direction for the safety of staff, occupants and contractors.

In this position, the Regional Safety Manager
- Infrastructure Support will be responsible for leading and enhancing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System of the Infrastructure Support Department within the framework/context of provincial legislation/regulations, the Eastern Health organizational occupational health and safety management system, and construction/building maintenance industry best practices. By way of development, implementation and maintenance of policy, practices and procedures, the aim of the position is to minimize health and safety risk to employees, patients/clients/residents, visitors and contractors introduced through the ongoing maintenance and renovation/modification/construction of our buildings. Working collaboratively with Infrastructure Support Management Team and staff, Workplace Health, Safety & EFAP Department, Site Administrators, Eastern Health employees, leased premises owners and 3rd party contractors to foster a safety culture both within the department and the organization.

**Job Qualifications**

**Education**
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required.

Completion of post-secondary diploma or certification in occupational health and safety is required.

Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is an asset.

**Experience**
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven in construction safety management including developing and implementing occupational health and safety management systems is required.

Healthcare sector experience is an asset.

**Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)**
Knowledge of the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and other related legislation.

Knowledge in quality improvement, change management and evidenced based practice.

Knowledge of project management systems and practices.

Knowledge of data collection, interpretation and reporting.

Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple departmental/organizational initiatives and strategically prioritize these initiatives.

Demonstrated strong oral, written and presentation skills.

Demonstrated strong computer skills including knowledge and understanding of databases.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely fashion.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and networking skills to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels of the organization, various stakeholders and external agencies/organizations.

**Other**
Some travel throughout the region is required.

A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
