New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary**:
Performs routine blood specimen collection and processing, specimen testing within the scope of practice, and assumes appropriate responsibility for problem solving and teaching. Reports to Team Leader; or designated general supervisor. Works primarily with adults and patient specimens. Must exhibit working knowledge of lab care standards for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients/specimens

**Position Requirements**:

- Demonstrated commitment to the values of service, responsible stewardship, community responsiveness and respect.
- OSMT certified in all core lab competencies for Technician Assistant.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians, office personnel, and hospital co-workers.
- Certification in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
