**Job Summary**
Rooks to Cooks is Canada's leading culinary school for children. We run a wide variety of programming from in-home birthday parties, afterschool programs, community workshops and more, but are most known for our summer cooking day camps.
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for the upcoming camp season.
Camp counsellors are experienced child care staff who bring the fun and energy to the camp setting. Counsellors work alongside other chefs and volunteers to deliver Rooks to Cooks’ top
- notch culinary and recreational curriculum to campers aged 6 years and older. Counsellors provide guidance, supervision and support to campers throughout each day and help maintain the safety and fun of the environment. Counsellors work with campers during cooking, breaks, transitions and before-care and take lead on helping campers prepare for the end-of-week Pop-Up restaurant Additionally, counsellors provide guidance to Junior Counsellors and Counsellors in training, who will learn alongside them.
**Key Duties**:
**Space Opener Manager**
- Supervise morning care campers
- Pull and set up camper mise en place and equipment for morning recipes
- Set up demo station for first recipe
- Set up dish pit system for KA
**Camper Supervisor and Support Manager**
- Plan, prepare and execute break time activities, arts and crafts, games and team-building exercises with enthusiasm
- Supervise and support during recipe demonstrations and recipe execution
- Collaborate with staff, management, families and children themselves to understand their unique needs, strengths, skills and interests. And, provide additional support for campers with additional support needs.
- Conduct daily morning & afternoon huddles - daily affirmations, rose & thorns
- Manage camper conflicts and Injuries
- Assist campers with planning and making their Pop-Up restaurant theme, name and decor
- Assist campers and team with all aspects of the Friday night Pop up restaurant
- Deliver large group and small group instruction
- Build authentic relationships with campers and their families
- Support in the building and maintaining of a physically and emotionally safe environment for campers and staff
- Respond and react professionally to all incidents and document in a timely manner
- Ensure campers are well fed and kept hydrated throughout day
- Help define and reinforce camp rules and expectations
- Help supervise and mentor Counsellors in Training
**Space Closer Supporter**
- Clean classroom space
- Conduct washroom checks to maintain the cleanliness after campers leave for the day
**Other duties as assigned**
**Qualifications / Experience**
- 18 years old or older
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Previous experience working with children in large group settings. (2 years minimum)
- All employees will be required to obtain and demonstrate proof of completion of the following documents before the start date of their training and employment**:First Aid & CPR C level, Food Handlers Certification and a clear Vulnerable Sector Screening**

**Environment**:
- Indoors in large spaces and a kitchen.
- Outdoor activities are held at parks and other grassed and pathed areas.
**Physical Requirements**
- Ability to stand for extended periods of times
- Ability to assist with culinary tasks and actively engage with campers
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 10 weeks
Pay: $20.00-$22.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 44 per week
