A storied address in the heart of Whistler’s Village, Araxi features an understated, nature-inspired interior design that speaks to the beauty of the spectacular landscape and plays to the authenticity of the location. The regionally focused menu melds local flavours to showcase the best of nearby farms and waters.
**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Sushi Chef will manage and produce a premium sushi and Japanese raw bar program at Araxi.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)
- Develop creative, high quality menu items for sushi and raw bar program
- Support the Executive Chef with recruitment, training, and development of back of house staff
- Lead by example, inspiring staff to deliver a memorable food experience
- Maximize resources and inventories by managing cost and monitoring inventory and budget
- Assist with overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
- Ensure food quality in presentation, flavour, and production
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness and maintain equipment to optimal specifications
- Develop a strong rapport with agents and suppliers
**REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and cooking culture
- Knowledge of food costing and experience with cost analysis
- Highly committed to a premium level of quality
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the ability to handle conflicting deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
