**The Opportunity**:
The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for two (2) permanent full-time **Transit Operations Supervisors**. These positions are responsible for the supervision of conventional and action bus operators, acting operations supervisors as well as servicing staff during any scheduled shifts ensuring the safe, reliable, operation of transit vehicles on prescribed routes, specialized service, charters and regional transit service. Guides staff to assist them in recognizing and taking appropriate steps to alleviate problem performance. Guides staff through the Work Expectation & Review process. Responsibility for conducting accident investigations. Observes and reports problems dealing with service levels, passenger loads, routing, equipment and bus stop maintenance, passenger and operator complaints. Take appropriate action to deal with problems affecting service; assists operators experiencing passenger conflict as required. Acts as the Senior Operations Supervisor in his absence.
- High School Diploma
- Supplementary Personnel and Supervisory Management Training.
- Level one Accident Investigation Certificate, First Aid and C.P.R.
- Recognition training, in areas such as alcohol and drug abuse, preventing workplace violence, crisis intervention, etc.
- Minimum of 3 years’ of progressively more responsible and diverse exposure to a broad range of professional transit experience in a supervisory capacity and/or para-transit supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of training and evaluation procedures, public transit routing standards, para-transit service standards and safety programs would be an asset.
- Ability to deal effectively with the public, maintain a good rapport with subordinates, other staff, and an ability to handle public and subordinate criticism.
- Ability to work under very fast paced high-pressure scenarios, where on occasion, quick decisions and action are required to maintain service levels.
- Ability to write comprehensive and detailed reports.
- Excellent working knowledge of computer systems as utilized by the City of Red Deer and as required for the function of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in continuous learning and on-the-job training.
- Light duty mechanical ability will be an asset.
- Must possess working knowledge of mass public transit concepts, safety, planning, training, other practices and equipment.
- Must have a high level of competence in dealing with human resource issues.
- Must possess working knowledge of specialized public transit concepts, safety, planning, training, other practices and equipment.
- Class 2 driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement.

**Affiliation**:
Exempt

**Remuneration**:
$34.74 to $43.42 per hour ($72,250 to $90,312 per annum).

**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly as scheduled. Shifts will be a rotational schedule, including days, evenings and weekend work.
