**Carpenter (General Repair Technician GRT)**

Carpenters (GRT) at On Side rebuild and restore damaged personal property anywhere and anytime a disaster strikes. With the goal of getting things back to a pre-disaster state GRTs use the skills of carpenters, drywallers, painters and magicians Making clients believe magic has happened is all part of a day for a GRT.

**Responsible for**

The multi-talented GRT is skilled in the following ways:

- Repairs to wooden structures of all sorts
- Framing
- Drywalling, mudding, sanding and finishing
- Brush and roller painting (could include walls, ceilings, trim, landscapes, and portraiture not included)
- Ceiling installation, knockdown and texturing
- Insulation and vapour barrier installation
- Being awesome, in general
- Installation
- Doors
- Trim, moldings, and baseboards
- Hardware installation
- Cabinetry

**What you bring**

The GRT brings a host of abilities to their work, not the least being a ‘get it done’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:

- Experience working in construction environments
- Tools and the skills to use them
- Strong people and communication skills
- Attention to detail, passion for quality and pride in the work you do
- A safety mindset
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Ability to communicate in English

**Other stuff that’ll help you be successful but isn’t mandatory**:

- Skilled trades ticket (Carpenter, Painter, Cabinetmaker)
- IICRC certification (restoration focus)
- WHMIS
- First Aid

**Of Note**

Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$32.00 per hour

We are disaster relief and require people who can see what must be done and take care of it Please speak to your abilities and how you would be the best person for this job:

- Are you able to work a Rotating On-Call Schedule (Responding to emergency calls after business hours)? This is additional to scheduled daytime hours and notice of needed on-call would be given in advance. Premium and overtime is paid.

**Experience**:

- home renovation: 1 year (preferred)
- residential carpentry: 1 year (preferred)
- installing and repairing cabinets: 1 year (preferred)
- drywalling and finishing: 1 year (preferred)
- installing interior millwork: 1 year (
