Multi-Organ Transplant Program

The Transplant Donor Specialist coordinates and performs as required all activities related to the retrieval, preservation, and transportation of donor organs for use in transplantation and research, in compliance with all regulatory standards. The Transplant Donor Specialist is responsible for data management and provides education, research assistance and program support as required. The role requires rotating 24/7 on-call coverage for donor coordination and organ retrieval. Assignments may require up to 24 plus hours of continuous service during periods of increased donor activity. Travel by charter aircraft, train, and taxi is required within the province, and occasionally nationally, for organ retrieval.

Temporary Full-Time

Duration: Up to 12 months

Rate of Pay: $38.15 per hour - $47.69 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a two (2) year College Diploma in a Health-related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Current member in good standing with a recognized Registered Healthcare Provider College, preferred
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years of recent relevant experience in a health care related field
- Proficient knowledge of requirements of Organ Donation Organizations (ODOs) in Canada
- Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills
- Ability to remain calm, composed and focused on the role under extremely emotional and tense conditions
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's vision, purpose and values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
