Children's Portrait Photographer

**Overview**
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Daycare Photographer to join our team for seasonal shoots at daycares across York Region. The time on location will be mornings, approximately 8:00am-11:45am, with actual shoot time in a 3 hour window. This role is part-time casual, and perfect for photographers who have their own regular business and are looking to fill some additional mornings. You will have several weeks (if not months) advance notice of shoot days.
**Duties**
- Plan and organize all of your equipment and roster details prior to shoot day, ensuring equipment is fully charged and additional backups are ready.
- Arrive onsite at 8:00 am to arrange your set. Be ready to begin photographing children at 8:15am or 8:30am sharp. **You will be photographing up to 50 children, spending roughly 2.5 minutes per child, with more/less time depending on their personality.**Wrap up the shoot day by 11:30am and tear down your set.
- Liase with daycare staff to provide clear instructions for how you will structure the morning, and what assistance is needed from specific staff members to ensure a smooth Photo Day.
- Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for children, engaging with them using puppets, songs, or simple friendliness to draw out those authentic smiles and expressions.
- Be prepared to interact accordingly with different children

- Keep organized in your set space, recording absences and compiling Photo Day cards to be sent home with families.
- Upload all RAW files to cull in LR or your preferred editing software. Select the best 4-8 photos of each child, and upload in given location.
**Requirements**:
- Previous experience photographing in a school setting is a bonus
- At least two years of experience photographing children under five, **with a portfolio to share.**:
- Excellent communication skills, confident to lead daycare staff in a respectful manner
- **Calm under pressure and high sensory stimulation. Ability to work in loud, sometimes chaotic environments with ease. Ability to maintain control but also demonstrate the flexibility and good sense necessary in environments with small children.**:
- Proficiency in Lightroom, Photoshop, or other photo editing software as needed
- **Must pass a new Vulnerable Sector Check, or provide a pass within the last 6 months.**
