**Job Summary**

The Digital Imaging Manager is responsible to provide leadership in the development of sound operating standards for the production staff and for the coordination of projects with associated services, both internal and external to the department. The Digital Imaging Manager is responsible for managing the unit, providing day-to-day supervision of the unit staff, and conceptualizing and developing effective strategies to encourage the integration of the complimentary but sometimes competing production methods through the promotion of electronic document submission to meet the needs of McMaster.

**Accountabilities**
- Manage the production units which are designed to meet the educational, research, scientific, administrative, medical and public relations needs of the University and hospital community. Ensure high quality, high volume, and quick turnaround of all products and activities including digital print on high-speed production equipment, wide format printing on roll-based and rigid substrate equipment, OMR scanning of examinations, courseware production as well as installations
- Works closely with the MPS Management Team to develop effective work strategies and efficient work flow to meet project deadlines and to develop new initiatives beneficial to the communities we serve.
- Assist the McMaster community in achieving desired outcomes by participating on committees formed to improve process and services deemed useful with the strategic direction of the University.
- Act as liaison to MPS customer service support staff regarding production schedules, equipment capabilities, and turn-around time expectations.
- Lead, motivate and inspire a team comprised of Digital Print and Signage Technicians and Operators, as well as various part-time resources.
- Facilitate the hiring, training, staff development, performance, and maintains professional conduct of the production teams.
- Responsible for the financial health of the division.
- Source, negotiate, and manage contracts related to supplies, equipment leases/purchases, software solutions, and annual maintenance.
- Develop concepts, hypothesis and strategies for new services during the research phase through implementation.
- Liaise with other universities and colleges involved in custom publishing and digital imaging to learn, share, and compare work methods in order to streamline production processes.
- Accountable for the establishment and maintenance of quality standards and productivity. Schedule and monitor unit work flow in conjunction with the expectations of our client base.
- Establish and maintain strict procedures for the security and confidentiality of materials being reproduced: Ensure all operators fully understand security procedures and are in full compliance at all times. This includes all materials being reproduced, but in particular, human resource documents, exams, mid-terms, and any other designated CONFIDENTIAL materials.
- Follow the vast volume of diverse projects with competing timelines through various production stages in associated services to ensure timelines are achieved.
- Capture project logs, equipment downtime logs, service statistic studies, unit database systems entries and records management processes and systems.
- Back-filling positions of the division such as operating equipment when required to ensure service expectations and deadlines relating to the production teams are maintained.
