For more information about the City of Waterloo’s **Strategic Plan, Vision, Values & Guiding Principles,**please click here**:City of Waterloo 2023-2026 Strategic Plan**. **What we offer**: - Supportive and caring organization that promotes respect, inclusivity, health, safety and wellness; - Dedication to the organization’s commitment for Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion through ongoing training and access to related programs and workshops, opportunities to connect with others around topics of social justice and equity, and opportunities to be involved with the initiatives that guide this corporate journey; - Certification as a Living Wage Champion; - Defined Benefit Pension Plan (OMERS) eligibility for all employees; - Flexible work schedules and the opportunity to bank overtime; - Substantial internal and external training and development opportunities; - Opportunities to get involved and give back to the community; - Employee-wide events, activities, site visits, BBQs, etc.; - Complimentary FitPass for City of Waterloo employees and family members for leisure, swim, and fitness drop-in programs; and, - So much more **What you will do**: Reporting to the Manager, Fleet Services, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: - Assist with the implementation and integration of zero emissions and lowering GHG practices, including the adoption of alternative fuels, electric vehicles (EVs), and fuel-efficient driving techniques. - Promote vehicle selection strategies that prioritize fuel-efficient models and explore renewable fuel options to reduce environmental impact. - Track and monitor the fleet’s environmental performance, including fuel consumption, emissions, and other sustainability metrics. - Prepare regular reports on the fleet’s environmental impact and progress toward sustainability goals, assisting in presenting these findings to management, stakeholders and interested parties - Collaborate with the fleet manager to track the success of sustainability initiatives, assess their effectiveness, and assist in preparing reports for management on sustainability efforts. - Provide recommendations for continuous improvement based on data-driven insights. - Work with divisions to reduce overall kilometers driven by developing strategies that encourage alternative transportation options (e.g., remote meetings, public transport, vehicle pooling). - Utilize telematics data to assist in, reduce idle time, and minimize fuel consumption and carbon footprint. - Provide insight into the development of driver training programs that emphasize safety, eco-driving techniques, and MTO regulations. - Assist in ensuring that the fleet meets all CVOR and MTO regulations standards. - Track and monitor fleet performance regarding MTO regulations and maintain accurate records - Using telematics to track and report on Hours of service (HOS) - Assist in the maintenance of tools for accurate tracking and reporting and provide insight to training on HOS best practices to drivers. - Support the fleet manager in the development of long-term strategies for fleet sustainability and MTO regulations. - Support the fleet manager in the development of long-term strategies and procedures for fleet sustainability and MTO regulations. **What you will bring**: - Post-secondary diploma or degree in Environmental Studies, Business Administration or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in fleet, sustainability initiatives, or a related area preferably in the public sector; Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. - Must have related experience working with MTO regulations (e.g., CVOR, Hours of S
